Consider possible candidates in your Harvard network

Dear Yiming,
Over the next few months, we hope you’ll consider possible candidates in your Harvard communities who might be a good fit to serve as a Harvard Overseer or Harvard Alumni Association (HAA) Elected Director and submit nominations for the 2027 slate.
Hear from Sid Espinosa MPP ’00, a former member of the Nominating Committee, on what the alumni on the committee look for in seeking to develop a diverse slate of candidates: |
As you consider possible candidates in your Harvard network, here is a little more information about the Overseer and Elected Director roles:
-
The Board of Overseers is one of Harvard’s two governing boards, along with the Corporation. Formally established in 1642, the Board of Overseers plays an integral role in the governance of the University.
-
The HAA Board of Directors is an advisory board that empowers volunteers to strengthen the Harvard alumni community and guides the fostering of alumni community building. The work of the Board focuses on creating University citizens of alumni and alumni volunteers, developing volunteer leadership, and increasing and deepening alumni engagement through an array of programs and communications that support alumni communities worldwide.

We hope this information is helpful—thank you in advance for submitting your nominations for 2027. And don’t forget to vote in Harvard’s 2026 election when it begins on April 1! |
